MY state of mind,  United States
7.24.2005
Yep...I live (in denial).
OK I'm not so sure that anyone is checking in here anymore since I went MIA for so long, but I need somewhere to talk about my embarrassing moments without having to see the looks of amusement on the faces of my friends and family...so here goes.

My husband and I went out with another (30-40 something) couple last night, and I wasn't carded at the bar! Mind you...I think (& have been told) that I look very young for my age, so I've gotten used to being carded whenever we go out to bars. Last night, though, the bartender looked at me with an amused smile and shook his head. I tell ya...I was a bit embarrassed (& even blushed). Mind you...this isn't the first time that this has happened, but I think it was the first time that I realized that my "being carded" days are over. The truth is, I used to feel sorry for the "older" gals that didn't seem to realize that they were old enough not to be carded anymore. Now I'm one of them. LOL

Ah, but it doesn't end their, folks....

Oh, you should've seen the looks that we were all given by the younger crowd. These barely 21 year olds looked at us as if we were up past our bed times and were apparently invading THEIR territory. Sadly enough, though, what actually annoyed me was the fact that I felt like I WAS. Maybe it was just my frame of mind last night, but I had what I suspect is the feeling one might get when walking the halls of your old high school during a 10 year reunion. I didn't go to mine, though, so I'm just guessing here (lol). Anyway...the fact that these younger people also looked only a little older than our teenager was nothing short of shocking. Then, of course, it was pointed out to me that they ARE only a little older (LOL) which blew my mind. When did THAT happen??? I have apparently been living in denial for some time now.

Eh...ah well. I will get over it...& besides that...I STILL look young for my age.

;-)

Hope all is well in your worlds.
